Governor Deal recently proclaimed April 24 - 28, 2017 as Manufacturing Appreciation Week (MAW). MAW was developed by the Technical College System of Georgia and the Georgia Department of Economic Development and will include an Awards Luncheon to be held April 27th at the Georgia International Convention Center. Several Henry County manufacturers have been nominated for awards.
DID YOU KNOW? Luxottica is the most recent addition to Henry’s impressive lineup of manufacturing companies. Luxottica Group, a leading eyewear designer, manufacturer and distributor, announced that they will create 1,000 jobs with the expansion of their North American facility in Henry County by the end of 2017. Over 600 of the new positions will be in production, with additional jobs in distribution and administration.
Henry County’s other advanced manufacturing companies include ALPLA, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of bottles and closures; Southern States, the largest switch manufacturer in North America; and Ken’s Foods, producer of high quality dressings, sauces and marinades.
“We are thrilled with Luxottica’s decision to expand in Henry County. The job creation and investment associated with this expansion represent a tremendous addition to the community,” said Henry County Development Authority Executive Director Charlie Moseley. “We are particularly excited to bring so many manufacturing jobs back to Henry. Luxottica has been a great corporate citizen for years, and we appreciate their continued commitment to the community."
Whether it’s spicing up the backyard BBQ with Ken’s BBQ sauce or sprucing up our homes with a little BEHR paint, many Henry County residents are unaware that they are routinely using “Made in Henry” products.
